The intriguing cross-pollination of rap and kung-fu continues with Cradle 2 the Grave, co-starring high-profile rapper DMX and Hong Kong superstar Jet Li. Master thief Fait (DMX) hits a diamond exhange but comes away with a bag of black gems of mysterious origin. When a crime kingpin steals the gems from Fait, an international arms dealer kidnaps Fait's beloved daughter--and Fait can only get her back with the help of Su (Li), a Taiwanese intelligence agent tracking the gems himself. A summary of the plot doesn't do Cradle 2 the Grave justice; while the basic story elements suggest a dozen generic action flicks, the cast (including Anthony Anderson, Gabrielle Union, and Kelly Hu) has genuine charisma and the movie layers action on top of action to strong effect. When his daughter is kidnapped and held in exchange for diamonds, the leader of a crew of highly skilled urban thieves (DMX) forges an unlikely alliance with a Taiwanese Intelligence officer (Jet Li) to rescue her.  Who Knew DMX Could Act? June 13, 2006
I happened to catch this movie on TV. I stopped flipping channels because I saw Jet Li. I thought it was Romeo Must Die but it wasn't. I was pleasantly surprised at DMX's performance as the father whose daughter was kidnapped. He was determined to do what it took to get her back. I got my own copy of this movie and suggest you do the same. It is a good movie with some of the best fight scenes I have seen in awhile.

This movie had the potential to be the best american martial arts movie to date. Jet Li and Marc Dacascos should have been one of the greatest screen fights ever but I will certainly get to that.
It starts with the patented comedy ala Exit Wounds and one of the hottest women ever shows up just to add some eye candy. And I certainly got about 99% of all I asked to see of her. Wow what a beauty. So they don't do anything new except showcase DMX. Not the worst actor and a good screen presence, btu he has the most fight scenes in this movie. I hope I mentioned Jet Li's name cause he is the only thing that is saving this from becoming a movie like All About The Benjamins. DMX has to be the worst fighter I have ever seen on screen. Dragon Lee is beter than this guy. He uses this style where his opponent has to come towards him for him to try and connect a knee to the guys stomach. He looked like he was gettign really tired and the bad guys had to help him up so he could continue. Jet Li's stuff is so spectaular it makes you mad they didn't use somebody like Michael Jai white since it is such a stupis movie anyway or a semi copetent actor play DMX's role. And it is a good thing this was not a hong kong movie casue his daughter would have been missign body parts with all that went on. Jet is shown to be this Jackie Chan type of invincible karaet guy.
And the plot revolves around jewels which make a machine light up and everybody wants to buy it to destroy ther world. Wow, good stuff!
It is all just retarded and I can't believe I stuck arouund for the finale which gievs us 3 fights and no clear indication of exactly what is goign on. Jet and Marc was decenct but that is not what I kept my eyes open for like 100 minutes for.
I think there is like a makign of on the disc, but don't buy this unless you lpan on neevr watching it again unless for the scantily clothed gabrielle union.

It Came on time, but the peace that holds the dvd was broken, is it possible to get the same dvd with ou that broken and not have to pay for shipping and the dvd?

My God, this is one sloppy mess of a movie. Jet Li should be ashamed of this putrid turd. Even the great fight choreographer, Cory Yuen, cannot escape being associated with this film untarnished. The story is dumb, but so what. The acting is dumb, but so what. The pathetic attempts at comedy fail abysmally, but so what. This is a martial arts film; we watch these films for the fight scenes, right? Uh-huh. Unfortunately, the fight scenes suck too, big time. The scene where Jet takes on the UFC guys is embarrassingly bad, and the MUCH anticipated fight between Jet Li and the great Mark Dacascos is a HUGE let down. Someone needs to tell editors that cutting back and forth between several action scenes absolutely ruins the flow and impact of ALL OF THEM! (This is the same bad decision that has ruined the climax of so many of the Star Wars films, but in this case, all of the action scenes going on are downright awful.) Further, DMX is just plain silly, and his nice-guy act in the film does not mesh with the meaning of the lyrics of his songs that accompany some of his character's actions on screen. Similarly, I wonder what Jet would say about some of the lyrics to some of the crap rap songs in this film, such as the violent and hateful opening song featuring the whiny, smarmy voice of Eminem--Jet is supposedly a devout Buddhist, after all, who is very opposed to violence. All-in-all, this is one big stinking mess of a film. Even as BAD martial arts films go, this one has little-to-no entertainment value whatsoever at all. It's so bad that Exit Wounds stands far above it! Watch Unleashed or Kiss of the Dragon instead, both of which are infinitely superior to this steaming pile of dog crap.

Pretty bad movie. I only bought it because I lost the library's copy. I couldn't suspend my disbelief enough to actually enjoy it.
